Re: Boomers yellling at clouds ie what's the number one thing you hate the most about modern techno?

If you can't mix the track in or mix in to the track at any random place then, in my book, it's not techno. thats a new one for me... not sure it stands up though :) Well just in my book, as I say. Good techno for me has a flowing composition that is as good at the start as it is in the middle, end...

Re: Boomers yellling at clouds ie what's the number one thing you hate the most about modern techno?

My number one pet peeve is more or less the super annoying "the main musical motif only appearing during the breakdown"-arrangement, which is very common nowadays. Many modern techno things can be seen as purely subjective and taste-based, but imo that one simply always and quite objectively makes ...

Re: How to create this vocal effect

Super super simple, you just need a harmoniser or several copies of the vocal at different pitches. That`s literally all it is. I`ve been doing this to vocals for years. Sounds more "evil" when you use dissonant pitches rather than harmonies. Thanks a lot Steve, I'll look into harmonies in a techni...

Re: Bleeps and bloops

this is something thats vital for the magic of the dfam, you dont have notes in the sequence you have a frequency knob for each step, so your never going to hit a note 100% That way you will do the tuning by ear and it will be coherent but more or less dissonant, which is a main element of bleep te...

Dunno if I'll ever use it , but it's cool they did that!

Just wish there was an option to lock sounds to tracks, so pattern changes wouldn't mess with your parameters

Re: Anyone else dealing with Live 11 issues?

I'm on Monterey currently , not using Rosetta. Using probably 50% third party plugins, and no dramas here.

The occasional crash but it's probably as stable as it's every been.

FWIW I also had no real problems on Big Sur and/or Rosetta

Feeling lucky...

Re: What direction are you moving in

Trying to sound a bit weirder, I guess. Less following the "rules" of what is acceptabl in production. Flangers on the master, reverb on subs and so on. +1 for weirder. Techno feels soooo stale and conservative to me these days - I just want to make it weird and explore those emotions between emoti...

Re: Anyone else dealing with Live 11 issues?

I swapped over to Bitwig for a bit; and I was really impressed with certain features that are much smarter than Live. I loved that the "macro" knobs are actually "remote control" knobs (ie simple 2 way communication between the knob and the parameter it's linked to) - and if you do really want an a...

Re: Corona finally got me. Ffs.

Ah that sucks!

I was so lucky, Covid was super mild for me - milder than any cold i've had in the last few years (it was the earlier Omicron .. I missed the OG one and Delta thankfully)

Wonder how it would have been if I didn't have the 4 jabs

Re: What Techno Are You Listening To Now

Techno wise I tend to mainly listen to Shed these days, and then the occasional mix from people I like... Getting a little burned out on what is popular in techno these days. Shed made some of the best tunes I've ever heard. When he hits that sweet spot between really amazing beats and something al...

Re: Fucking originality

Yeah I agree with that! I do quite like that about techno - for me it's a good mix of freedom yet still having well defined boundaries. I'm better at being creative when there are limitations already set. You can do whatever, as long as it does the THING Interestingly I'm hearing more and more techn...

Re: What Techno Are You Listening To Now

Wow just found this absolute MASTERPIECE from Terence Dixon Such a sour, claustrophobic and confused vibe. Wow. s33KisthSD4 I find it kinda mind blowing that he makes all his music with MC303`s. Not only that, he syncs them manually with the tap tempo (he says for a more natural sound). Pretty craz...

I tried it once, but it din't really catch any viewers. The copyright claim is mentioned, it prohibits you from monetizing your video, but maybe also from decent exposure on the platform, not sure. More info here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7000961?hl=en this is my video mix, maybe I...
