Re: Hardest part of the process
Usually I find getting on paulstretch/max granulator/mutable instruments clouds and just recording some weird atmospheres (often resampling parts from the track) and using them to gel the track together and build atmospheres really helps. I suppose it depends on what kinda music you're making, but a...

Re: How to get the "flapiness"
lol, love the replies, cheers guys. Yeah ive got the Slate FG-Stress compressor so it should get pretty fast, i'll try and crank it. It seems like the kicks these guys get have almost no click element at all but they still have loads of presence, just can't quite get the balance right. I'll give th...

How to get the "flapiness"
Hi, First off I'm terribly sorry for another post about kicks. I've been trying to work out how to get what I can only call a "flap" transient to my kicks, for example: https://soundcloud.com/horolabel/kwartz-over-a-sign-recognition Or B2 on this: https://hardwax.com/78159/modeo/signal-path/ My kick...

Kick Drum Advise!
Hi, I know this question has been asked a thousand times, so sorry for asking it again. But has anyone got any tips on how to achieve a weighty kick? Something like this is what I'm after: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE_isreMYUs I know the basics of layering, EQ'ing and compression, but I can ne...

Re: Tips on growl-ey synth lead sound
hey jack, not sure which part you are referring to, can you specify? Its the sound that starts to progress from about 30 seconds You mean the lower pitched sound? It's pretty growly. Could be done in many ways, my pick would be a very very fast LFO. Ive tried an LFO modulating the filter - is that ...

Tips on growl-ey synth lead sound
Hi,
Could anyone guide me on how to make this sort of growl-ey synth lead? I can't get the tone right, is it ring modulated or has something fancy going on with it? Any pointers are much appreciated, or suggestions on hardware/effects

Cheers,
Jack

Re: Recommendations for good & affordable drum samples?
If you are broke, download some free drum synths and make your own drums. FM synthesis is awesome for percussion. Make your own drums anyway, or search and steal samples from films and shit Do it the old school way, find shit, record shit, hit shit, sample shit, resample shit, mangle shit. Preset, ...

Re: Recommendations for good & affordable drum samples?
Cheers for all the suggestions, think I've figured out that its not my samples that are the problem, it's the way im using them that ends up sounding a bit stale.
Sidechained eq, compression, grooves and effects have helped me get a bit more of a natural sound now.
Cheers!

Re: Thoughts?
Really like the groove and the variations throughout the whole track. As a fairly inexperienced producer I find myself niggling about trying to get my sounds right, coming up with a minute or 2 of music and then not being able to proceed any further with the track. Will have to take a leaf out of yo...

Dark chugging techno
Hi, I'm a fairly inexperienced producer, and I've only recently started making things that I'm actually happy with, however I'm yet to finish a tune as I don't have the experience/capability to extend my ideas into 5/6/7 minutes of music. I'm quite happy with this so far and would like to hear peopl...

Recommendations for good & affordable drum samples?
Hi all, I find that im often getting stuck with regards to percussion. I cant afford a drum machine, and I generally end up putting dull hihats and claps in my tunes which just sounds repetitive and boring. Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap drum sample packs? Or maybe good sources or sugges...

Re: Does anyone own a Doepfer Dark Energy II
The Dark Energy mk1 is far superior to the mk2 since they were unable to use the same filter for the second model. I guess it depends what you prefer, I held out and waited for an mk1 to become available. Watch some comparison videos and see what you think. The dark energy mk1 is a great little synt...
