Re: Arturia MicroBrute
I think the most fun I got out of it was pushing some of the features to the edge and getting the sound to break apart. Extreme note bends, self oscillation of the filters, extreme waveshape changes. It`s a great "my first analog" I just think a lot of first timers might be surprised at it`s purity...

Re: Arturia MicroBrute
fwiw after this discussion...I spent about 18 months with a microbrute and I just found it really bland or distorted in a way I didn't care for. I found I usually ended up replacing it with a soft synth sound or another hardware synth. It was just a really uninteresting analog....the metalizer on th...

Re: Ensoniq DP4 / DP2
Cool. Someone else mentioned those Lex's too. Will investigate some more. I use it constantly. If I could find another MX200 for ~100USD I would buy another...just make sure you get one with the power supply...turns out they take a weird PSU and it took me a while to track one down and almost fucki...

Re: Prophet 08 for Techno?
Hades I appreciate all the info...just on a damn iPad at the moment so this will be short but you have given me a lot to think about here....I think the value for the money withe p08 and the synthesis options are still fairly unbeatable. love my Oto biscuit...I often have these delusions it's to exp...

Re: Prophet 08 for Techno?
I hate the brassy type of sound that a lot of synth have. I much prefer the P12 vs the P08. I really liked playing it in the store. Spent an hour and a half the first time and 3 hours the second time. The knobs are way smoother feeling. Modulation sources and destinations in abundance, shit tons of...

Re: Prophet 08 for Techno?
I've been using the SQ Prophet 5 (both proper and emulations) for years in techno. The 08 seems like a killer, Go for it. Cool. I know the sound of the P08 is quite different than the original Sequential units, but I really love the aggressive-ish, brassy tone of the Prophet 08. I feel like the P08...

Prophet 08 for Techno?
hello Subsket hardware fiends So I mostly make music via hardware and prefer multi tracking live performances then editing that audio down. Currently my primary pieces are a Novation UltraNova, Mopho Keyboard and my iPad. I am looking at adding an analog poly to my setup. I don't strictly make Techn...

even our cats are all female I have a wife and 2 daughters and a female cat. They've got shit locked down Lol...I feel you man... I don't think it is an accident that the two semi-stray cats we feed and shelter are both boys, they have to stay outside though. I'm just waiting for my marching orders...

Re: Ensoniq DP4 / DP2
just throwing it out there that the Lexicon MX series might be worth a look. you can have them for a steal used these days and they have all the routing and I/O you could need. probably loads cleaner sounding than the DPs but I am rather fond of many of the algorithms. I've always got some synth rou...

Re: Yamaha Reface Keyboards
I quite like the sound of the cs if I'm honest. Easily achievable mad sounds and lots of faders to mess with on the fly. I'll give you this, but it just seems not a lot for the money. I'll pick one up when a bucket load of em inevitably end up dumped on eBay for 200 dollars  at 400 USD new I'd...

Re: Yamaha Reface Keyboards
looks like the touch sliders become buttons when working w the looper, might be one big reason for touch screens over sliders...but I'd prefer sliders and drop the looper myself...thing is though you can have something like an Ultra Nova for about the same price...the CS looks OK if you just really ...

Re: Studio setup - few questions
Many audio interfaces have combo jacks that will take either xlr or quarter inch. Just as an example that gives me 10 on my motu 828. I would just find a reasonable interface which offers daisy chaining. also something to think about...I have been recording everything or near everything in mono...e...

yea I am liking this...the melodic parts are what really draw me in...and this doesn't seem too long or self indulgent or anything like that. I like the woody percussion sounds as well

Re: Delve - Gravitate
I enjoyed that. kinda a nice crunchy vibe about things and the metallic lead sound was tastefully done. I grooved through the whole track and it kept my attention the whole time. Nothing much else to say. dig it man!
