Re: Time to buy hardware
Do Roland even own the copyright on the aesthetic design though? I think even without copyright (I doubt they have one at this point) they have the claim to a trademark as long as the specific design relates to the music instrument business. Yeah they could probably argue that the design is a recog...

Re: Master/Slave - Ableton changes terminology
generally if you are educated, you should be on a level of empathy to accept such a change the way you worded this is interesting. As if better educated means more empathic. ehh, that's a no. The English language is a barrier to me at this point, hard to translate my feelings and thoughts in this t...

Master/Slave - Ableton changes terminology
Came across this one in one of the Ableton live facebook groups. Over there the OP put his feelings into shitty words ("Oh Ableton, what a bunch of pathetic twats you are..."). I don't want to get into meaningless fights on facebook, but would like to start a topic on this with you. I am curious wha...

Re: Grid - Modular MIDI Controllers
Hey Guys n Gals, The Grid crowdfunding is over, thanks for your kind words and feedback. We did not meet our goals to start the first production run as we originally planned, still we are going to produce the first modules for early backers and fulfill our promises. We seek other means of funding no...

Re: Marketing wank in the world of hardware
Well I checked out birdkids facebook page, the site and the campaign page recently. Given this context their message and style how they use their language to describe this new product is totally understandable to me. Their market (in my opinion at least) expects this kind of voice. Somehow you have ...

Re: Grid - Modular MIDI Controllers
The important thing is for the displays to be above the knobs and aligned with them a-la Push and Maschine. I don't know if a touch screen is needed. I think the optimum would be one programmable button under each knob or above the display but maybe touch screens instead of physical buttons will ma...

Re: Grid - Modular MIDI Controllers
OK cool, I am still waiting for an uber controller : 32 encoders with hi-res displays above them (a-la MPC X or the new Novation SLmk3) and software for creating profiles with custom names for MIDI CC numbers... Who will sort this out?? I believe we will. In the Grid modular design. Two EN16 module...

Re: Grid - Modular MIDI Controllers
Great! This is something I was wondering myself for years, why no one did this before? It's pretty much no-brainer. The concept has been around since late 90's. Yet just few of them became commercially available or turned into business. The project's category (at least for now) is midi controller. ...

Re: Grid - Modular MIDI Controllers
Thanks for the kind words guys! USB - C connector? Maybe not. You will get a USB Type C - USB A male 2.0 cable with Grid modules. It's more reliable than average USB micro B connectors used nowadays. I had midi controllers turn off during a live set as the low-end shook the hell out of the loose con...

Grid - Modular MIDI Controllers
Hi. Here I am, selling my soul on crowdfunding. I talked a lot with fellow subsekters about the "Grid", which is a modular midi controller project of mine. Shared ideas which in the end, shaped the project as it is today.I thought it might be a cool idea to share the project here with you upon launc...

Re: What DAW are all y'all tech nerds using?
With Ableton 10.3 on my old hp laptop with Intel 3000 graphic chipset had to open up the options.txt file to disable something as it crashed my computer instantly. But that's an old config. On my main desktop, Ableton 10.3 runs better than 9.6. I can't talk about older projects, but now I think many...

Re: Production streaming and production streamers
OBS is the way to go. Both for recording and streaming content. There is a lot of things to consider (quality and performance wise) while setting up the stream /recording layout first, but few Google searches will get you there. The ASIO driver usage is an issue which can be resolved with third part...

Re: Partying in this new age.
Been to Budapest a few times now and I have to say it really stands out how nice a city it is, esp for a capital city. I got a sense of it being at the early stages of being a really cool place to live, kind of naive (mean that in a good way) and going in a positive direction .. If you can avoid po...

Re: Partying in this new age.
What I saw recently in Budapest is very positive. I had no such experience at techno parties, like the very strange behavior of girl above. By the way I witnessed similar at alternative rock events. If I had to label techno crowds, would call it 'mature' instead of 'woke'. And I think I am cool with...

Otto's DIY
Hello everyone, have big plans for superbooth18 with Intech Studio. To prepare for a product line launch, decided to try out indiegogo, how such a campaign could be managed. As a fresh as f*** and unknown brand, it's tryhard but we only live once. Otto's DIY is targeting the eurorack module builders...
