How To Make Live Sessions Interesting
I've done plenty of live arrangements which basically consisted of premixed audio track level automation with a few sends but I haven't done any live compositions with say a drum machine and a synth. To be quite honest, I'm not really enthusiastic about the notion in general because most live sessio...

Re: There is now a dedicated techno reverb rumblez plugin lol
A disadvantage of the processing chain up to here might be that it might take some time to "fill up" the reverb. So the rumbling for the first kicks track might not be as cool as for the later ones. That’s why we added the freeze function. Hold your horses. They want me to process my rumbles more o...

He said it works with any kick drum you can imagine. Now we are ready to go down the rabbit hole.

Re: The production level of current 'vinyl only house' is so next level that it depresses the hell out of me
Random thoughts. Maybe this forum needs an expressive techno thread so we can stray from being wowed by masturbatory noise. Four to the floor isn't conducive to club music for me and it simply represents a driving force of energy. That can be interpreted in different ways but I don't go to clubs. Th...

Re: Eventide Blackhole / Sale
Great plugin. One of my favorite tricks is creating a "short" space for a snare to make it sound like a drum from outer space. Very uncomfortable and eerie sound. Otherwise the large spaces are pretty unique too. I still need to do something with that modulation bar functionality of tweaking multipl...

My life and my creative efforts amount to a blended mess. What kind of psychological experiment is this? The girl with the fish bowl is the one who needs help.

Re: Some of you into Cryptocurrencies/Bitcoin ?
I knew an early adopter and he was truly passionate about the ideas at the foundation. He was the kind of person who refused to renew his expired government identification and I had to buy alcohol for him some years ago. The people who seek investement opportunities are slightly amusing. I've had an...

I tried it in a few spots inside of a couple projects after buying it this passed weekend and got good results. I'm looking forward to using this more.

Re: The production level of current 'vinyl only house' is so next level that it depresses the hell out of me
It's all about how you perceive things in relation to what you already know. I just finished making experimental beats for some rappers doing an EP and they think I'm really good. That's flattering but what the hell does a rapper know about the technicalities? How you perceive things might not be th...

Re: Amøbe - Vågne Drømme
You know a lot of people actually try to have lucid dreams. The ironic thing about having uncontrollable lucid dreams is that you should be able to manipulate your dreams when you have them. Sounds like chilled out dreamy trance to me. That FM kind of percussion riff is a too high in the mix for me ...

I'm impressed with what you squeeze out in these marathon sessions, I've never managed to pull a track out of the hat in one day... I suppose it is a strength but also a weakness. Thanks for the feedback and I agree with you. I recently mentioned the problem I have with bloated mixes. My projects t...

Re: Mixdowns - Saturation, Compression, Grouping, Etc
Something I'm thinking about tonight at work is mixing into a saturation module as opposed to thinking of it as a finalization process. This would bake the processing into the premaster and essentially just make it part of your sound. Any thoughts?

Re: Voidloss - War of Drum - Album - Singularity Recordings
This is a masterpiece and should be a listening requirement for students of music whether or not they are institutionalized. That bass hitting halfway through the first track was impressive and left an impact which carried on through the rest of the project. Other standout moments for me include the...

Re: Mixdowns - Saturation, Compression, Grouping, Etc
How does one get "taught to master"? It takes about a decade of on the job get to the basics. Indeed. The widespread perception of mastering amongst independent artists and their expectations is interesting to think about. I dabble with little things pertaining to mastering but it's like the rabbit...

Looking forward to the release on Bandcamp! I see it other places but I don't want to spoil the fun. Too bad they can't set up an automatic release function.

Re: Mastering the Mix BASSROOM - automatic lowend EQ
Tried this today. It was able to tweak out a target for me according to some reference tracks but I felt handicapped at resolving the issue. This is not an automatic adjustment tool and it sets a target for you to screw around with moving tiles away from and closer to you based on tonal balance. The...

Re: Fog Capture - Dei Secoli
Wondeful dreamy feel to this. I like the progressive nature of the synth work. Nice panned delay on that quick three note fill. I think some variation in the hand percussion loop would take this to a higher level but that might be reaching.
