As always, there is no objective guideline or must but/however I personally like drum elements to not be more than around -30 to +30 or something (if values -100 to +100). Generally that is enough for me, if it's not functioning as spot effects or part of a phrase/hook. I pan synths and other things...

I have a friend who does some pretty interesting things, where he has a lot of delay chains, and then a gate at the end (I think that's what he does). It makes it possible for him to have some pretty intense rhythms out of melodic material without it becoming dubby - it works really well for him :)...

Just tried the demo.. it's a tape emulation so it is subtle. But on the material I've tried it nails both saturation and transients better than the plugins I've tried so far (Tape, Satin and Taupe). Busy source material sounds more pleasing right out of the box with minimal tweaking (level matched)....
