Re: Your biggest revelation/breakthrough?
starting to hear groove in a different way , and also really find out why less is more is super important whenever it comes to making beats.

Re: Microtiming for dif. elements
i been reading a lot about microtiming lately . and i noticed that if u want a great Groove . the type of the sample u choose will affect the overall sound. specially the attack . u can try to move manually few ms forth or back but the groove will always lack that notion or feel . the best way would...

Re: question about compression .
Ok, well The Glue is a really great soft comp. I just did a test to see if maybe the compressor was doing something odd, and no. I just used a big sub bassline, pulled down the comp until I had ridiculous gain reduction, and there was no low end drop off. the problem is your perception. It takes a ...

Re: question about compression .
You are probably doing it wrong. Compression on the low end, if you are doing correctly, should reinforce the low end, giving you speaker destroying lows. Whatever you are doing, you are doing something wrong. What that is, cant say without more information. the way i am trying to use the compresso...

Re: question about compression .
I guess it's cos of a few different reasons. I might touch on a few, badly.. Your sound vs. Type of compressor. Attack / release times. Amount of gain reduction. The sound itself: Bass sounds tend to have longer waveforms than 'non bass' sounds. I believe this has an effect on how the compressor re...

i am a noob in music productions , so i wanted to know why is the reason that whenever u compress the low end , i feel it looses the weight around 40 hz under. just curious

Re: NOT ALL DAW'S ARE EQUAL .
Logic sounds better than Ableton. That's what my ears tell me. I don't give a fuck about null tests either. I've tracked in the same source using the same gear and I thought one sounds better than the other. Some people might get bent out of shape over the above statement but its not a big deal to ...

Re: NOT ALL DAW'S ARE EQUAL .
I agree with u Matt . just wanted to voice more about the workflow and less about the sound Engine. but you know how heated this DAW wars get !!Mattias wrote:I understand the curiosity about this subject but...

Re: Microtiming for dif. elements
besides sidechaining to pump your beats , i don't see any other creative tool to add to your groove. Dynamics in Groove are made by the time you program it .mattej wrote:

Re: NOT ALL DAW'S ARE EQUAL .
Imo its all about workflow and what you want from your DAW. If Iwork a lot with a lot of audio files I find Ableton a pain in the ass but to get ideas quick into the box it is really good. I used to do everything in ableton and then switch to Pro Tools once I was done with the midi stuff. But since...

Re: NOT ALL DAW'S ARE EQUAL .
Without proper blind / null testing, this is not worth arguing about. Hearing is so subjective and perception is so affected by more than just the sound itself that without properly scientific testing in perfect conditions, the point is moot. The question about whether or not you can listen to fini...

NOT ALL DAW'S ARE EQUAL .
i had some veteran producers telling me that if u know how to produce a DAW shouldn't be an issue , since all the DAW are the same. well I call it BS !! i thought for a long time this is true but it is not. there are new plug ins and DAW that are dumbed down version of the Original Cubase , Logic or...
