Re: Opinions on a tight song arrangement or jam style

I think Lost to the Void is on to something here... It feels so stale and clinical to start with your pencil tool in an empty arrangement view. I often burn out on the track before I get it in a place that I like it. I feel like the inspiration happens when you jam with the machines. Then when I rea...

Re: Expert Sleepers _ USAMO

I intend to use the USAMO -hopefully- to track a single drum machine +/or sequencer based box, 303 style seq into Live. Building layers. I'll be happy AF f I can do all that & the rythymic stuff sounds tight 🎃 Thx for the follow up. Seems like a great solution for a single machine. Hope it works ou...

Re: Expert Sleepers _ USAMO

That's the exact thing the Multliclock is made for, sorry for saying that ;). I had the exact same shitty problems and I also thought I'd never spend that much money for a single device you set up and forget. But... (sorry), since I've got that box ALL problems are gone. That's exactly what I was s...

Re: Expert Sleepers _ USAMO

Looking forward to get it now. Will definitely give it a good roadtest & decide if it's for me. Thanks for that advice. I've read a lot online about it. Seen plenty of teething problems.. but I'm syched. Hey Críoch! I'm very curious to hear about your experience with the USAMO. I've been plagued by...

Re: TR8S driver installation error

dang, well you may want to consider moving up to Windows 10 for several reasons. First off, the OS was released back in 2009, that's a decade ago which is a lifetime in computing lol! Support has since been discontinued and it no longer receives security patches and updates. You may also run into is...

Re: TR8S driver installation error

Here's the info on forcing Windows to disable the digital driver signing features. Seems to have helped others with this issue. Did you give this a try?

Re: Favorite soft synths? (2k19 edition)

Im a bit old school and can't let go of Reaktor as my main software go-to. Also, the Rob Papen SubBoomBass still gets some use for quick sub and bass sounds, however I've been having better luck with my Eurorack for those sounds these days. Also still use the good ole Omnisphere for pads and atmosph...

Mixing in the box vs. out of the box

I currently have two drum machines, a kick machine and a eurorack. Those are patched directly to my soundcard inputs and I create channels in Live to do mixing duties via midi controller. Since there's no mixer on my desk, I can keep a DJ mixer patched in for the occasional Traktor session. I was th...

Re: Another mid budget monitor thread

So as, "just another part-time bedroom techno producer", I have to say I found this thread to be both fascinating and overwhelming. I'm also in need of a monitor upgrade. My current passive 6" Tannoy Reveals are in pretty bad shape. My cat punctured the rings around the speakers and I have them over...

Re: Another mid budget monitor thread

I mix my own music on hi end (passive) hifi bookshelf speakers instead of nearfields now. Well I almost wish you never said that lol. Seems to muddy the waters quite a bit. It's hard enough trying to pick out a decent pair of reference monitors from the sea of "studio monitor" offerings. If we now ...

Re: Another mid budget monitor thread

Bang for buck though, you will probably get more performance for your money going passive with amp. But it`s more tricky to navigate that arena. Yeah that's kinda what i'm thinking. Any nice passives come to mind? Most of the market hype seems to be in the midrange actives. Don't really hear to muc...

Re: Another mid budget monitor thread

I'm getting some Polk LSiM 703s at the end of the year. I want to get away from actives. Hey Void, you seem to have a pretty good understanding of the monitor options out there, so I figured i'd ask you a quick question on this. I have a pretty outdated setup and have come to the realization that a...

Re: Perfectionism turns into self-doubt

I guess with time and experience you just learn when to pick your battles, make small wins, it all contributes to the winning the war. Or in other terms, when climbing that endless mountain to the infinitely distant peak of perfection, sometimes it`s ok to take satisfaction from just reaching that ...

Re: Modular Synthesiser Discussion

I'm using Orbitals as a main step sequencer but am thinking of switching to the Intellijel Metropolis..it's just a bit pricey. Also using Intellijel uScale II for quantizing functions and it works very well. Strongly suggest the Stillson Hammer MK2 over the Metropolis. Superior in almost every way....

Re: Some Dark Reflections...

Thanks for checking it out guys. Have to also admit...Jordan's comments were spot on. I think i just got lazy on the break. Didn't bother to chop up the vocal to fit the timing better. Also agree that the break was a bit short and early and that drum fill is super cheezy lmao. Just wanted some drama...

Re: modular experiment

Nice track overall. Love the modular lead. Maybe a sub line is in order to give a little more low end weight. Could also use some ambient background stuff, maybe just a pad or some reverberated hits. Other than that, it's a wrap!
