Re: Using VSTs with a hardware workflow...
I do that alot. I take some piece of audio, load some weird granular effect with FM and delay and whatnot then press play and twist every knobs every way. I print this directly to audio. I finely chop the best part and serve cold.

Re: Ableton 9.5 & Push 2
Sorry to go a little bit off thread, but when you guys say about ableton's rapidity is in terms of what? Creativity? I would say that production and sequencing is essentially the same in every DAW. I am talking as a Logic user The editing and the way you work is faster. To me at least it is. The wo...

Re: What's your experience with buying used gear online?
I consider myself lucky to have developed an anti-GAS throughout the years. I'v bought so many hardware devices or instruments only to resell them later because they were only accumulating dust. I think i'll sell some stuff i don't use on ebay soonish since i'm canadian and the USA dollar is 25% str...

Re: Ableton 9.5 & Push 2
I am a logic user since my early days in production, Recently I feel a bit tempted about getting ableton. Is it a good move? would be better than Logic? I mean it has its own hardware controller and must of the techno producers use it. You and only you can be the judge of that. Download the trial c...

If i only have to pick one i'd say Richard Devine. It's not quite techno but not so far from it !

Re: What's your experience with buying used gear online?
On ebay i'v bought electric guitars averaging 1kUSD each, used dynaudio monitors, used Ableton push etc. It's all about the feedback score first and foremost, then the details of the add and the communication. Sometimes i ask additional pictures just to see how fast, friendly and motivated the selle...

Re: Ableton 9.5 & Push 2
The new filters are cool. I will have to test them further though. I would say i was expecting more out of them. I would have loved for them to be great enough to actually ditch my usage of other synths because the one and only time i use anything else than operator is when i really am after some o...

Re: Getting €2,000 tax credit tomorrow. What should I buy?
And then some odd synths like : Kawai K5000, Ensoniq fizmo. I love digital synths, what can i say... But i know for a fact i don't need any of those and that i can get to the same exact sounds in 15 seconds on a computer while it would take a solid 15 minutes on those machines. ow no you wouldn't. ...

To answer the original post :
I use an IPAD with Touchable as a control surface. It's awesome. In fact those fancy 300-500$ hardware controllers would have to try real hard to be better than this. That's my opinion.

1) room treatment ----> self made 6-8 inches thick pretty much floor to ceiling corner panels and 4 inches 2x4 panels at reflections. I swear. Thick corner panels will change your experience more than anything out there. then and only then, because alot of the sound you hear without treatment is but...

Re: What Monitors / Headphones do you use?
something i learned recently is that the kh 120s are non-ported. which makes them more accurate than ported models such as the A7X but with less power in the bass. i read in mike senior's book that it might be a good idea to go non-ported for anything under 1000GBP (+-1500E?) because the port tends...

Re: surgeon warms up for lady gaga ???
All techno should be played in the dark, black robe on in an all male club located under the earth in some tiny unsanitary european cave under some ugly pub in germany. All sound coming out of some all analog rig, no computer involved with two naked dwarfs running around on some kind of device to gen...

It's all about dosage. Saturation is good. Too much saturation becomes a parody of the original idea.

The stuff on avian i find very good, distorded or not. Some of it is not that distorted. I think it has some soul. Some might disagree.
