Re: PC Laptop in 2021? Recommendations

I have a dell g5 and the only real issue I had with it was something called smartbyte network management, which comes preinstalled and is =awful=. It adds latency to the whole system, once that was uninstalled it worked great.

Re: sonarworks 5.

Hey Steve did you manage to get those codes? I want to get this ordered but I figure I may as well wait till after they announce the next version to make sure I get the latest update when I buy it.

Re: sonarworks 5.

Nice one! Would be very grateful of a code for headphones, though I suppose you cant really trial the full studio stuff properly without the special mic for calibration?

Re: Ableton Live 11 Update

Right at the start of the thread I asked if it was possible to crossfade between two macro snapshots and it wasn't, or was with loads of effort. Well now it is and its dead easy!

This will let you crossfade from one snap shot to another and automate it really easily :D

Re: sonarworks 5.

Just noticed I can get this for the education rates which looks to be around £130 for the full version and calibration mic. I'm in an awful untreated room with KRK R6 gen2s and M50x/HD25 cans... yeah i know(!)... is it worth looking at or a waste of time without some better cans/monitors?

Re: Ableton Live 11 Update

Quick question for those with the beta, is there a way to crossfade between the macro snapshots? Like set a sound a and a sound b and then automate a slow shift from one snapshot to the other in arrangement? That would be so killer.

Re: ---- Elektron User Topic -----

I've spent the last few days trying to sort out a live PA setup (purely for fun) with a small eurorack and machine drum, I've run a trigger out of the MD into the eurorack for clock, then got two inputs going back into the MD RAM R machines, using cue1 so I can mix in the signal, then a RAM R machin...

Re: Modular Synthesiser Discussion

So yan do you track lots of separate outs from the modular and record them separately into ableton or use that mixer and record one track into live? I'm currently recording the modular into one track but I really want to start multi track recording.

I was annoyed when I wrote it that you called my first effort bullshit. Hopefully its helpful, if not ask and I'll try and answer best I can- I'm no expert I just noodle around for my own amusement.

Re: Modular Synthesiser Discussion

Eh? I gave an opinion based on how I use them and what I think about them because I thought that was what was being asked for. You want objective facts read the spec on the website. I love them because they are fun to use, sound great and interact with the rest of the modular - such as trigger riot ...

Re: Studio setup - few questions

Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 looks like the best £ per line-in at £200 and 8 line inputs, struggling to find anything with more than that.

Re: Modular Synthesiser Discussion

I have a small set of TipTop 909s, hats, kick and clap and an 808 rimshot, the mixz and a trigger riot. I love them, I was originally on the fence since it seemed like a lot of £ for something you can do so easily with a sample or even a TR8 or second hand machine drum. In the end the trigger riot s...

Re: Studio setup - few questions

I actually quite like the idea of getting one of those mixers with direct outs and an audio interface with lots of ins, seems like it'd fit my workflow far better. Its just finding enough inputs.. that Tascam US-16x08 looks like it only has the 3 pin guitar style inputs, can you connect standard jac...

Re: Studio setup - few questions

I'm going on this: "-All the inputs ALWAYS send down the USB channel of the same number, i.e. Channel 1 on the console -> USB 1, Channel 2 -> USB2, and so on... The USB send point is post-gain and pre-limiter/HPF/EQ. Another send point would add considerable cost and would not jive with the goal we ...

Re: Studio setup - few questions

One thing I don't get, with all these mixers that do multi track recording they all seem to record pre-EQ/compressor/fader. Surely it'd make more sense to record the tracks into a DAW after the EQ/comp/fader, if I'm jamming away a track using hardware and recording in separate tracks to edit later, ...

I quite like the idea of 1-2 hours, post when you start, then render and post after the time limit. Be cool to include a short description of how you got on, what you used/how you used it etc as well.

Re: How do you deal with latency? external gear + DAW

What are you using to send the note-data to your eurorack? A midi interface and midi to CV module will give you latency nightmares. A much better solution is the expert sleepers stuff, which sends note/cv data through an audio out on your interface instead of midi and gives you sample accurate timin...

Re: Ableton Push

Since I got push I don't think I've ever programmed a drum beat in with the mouse, I even found myself doing some semi competent finger drumming of two drums at once the other day. Thats not through making any kind of effort, its just push is so easy to do drum programming with its second nature. I ...

Re: Live vs. Not

I don't think for electronic music playing live needs to involve finger drumming or bongos or whatever to be live. Bashing out quick patterns using a sequencer like push or a drum machine sequencer like on the TR8 is still 'live' in my book, get wiggling on the knobs and its happy days!
