Re: Pedals
I ordered a Chase Bliss Mood. Curious to see what it can do with more than just the twee stuff that gets thrown at it in youtube videos - it was a concession to the Blooper really, but I was stretching things to the max at £350 for a pedal. It looks like it could be a source of lots of happy acciden...

Re: MPC Live Major Update.
Thanks! The synths is not an absolute deal breaker... MOST of the time I'm making Hip Hop beats, and despite having NI Komplete 11, I hardly ever do use much of it. The one thing I really would bloody miss though is the drum synths in Maschine. Going to have to think on this. I am really disappointe...

Re: MPC Live Major Update.
So I'm really hacked off with NI at the moment. I've been a Maschine user for a couple of years, and generally enjoyed it. However, there was an update around a year ago that completely messed with the workflow, and today's first major update for a good whole is a joke... Them investing so much time...

Also - Expanding on that. If you are the kind of person (like me) that idly flicks through youtube and watches random videos on production techniques, philosophies etc.. Try being more active in this process. Take notes - solidify the possible inspirations you can get. (Also become more selective w...

Re: Let's share our best "quick but essential" tip's in here
Try and put the 'product' as far out of mind as possible for a while - Focus on enjoying the process. Play. Have fun. This is easier said than done, but a mindset I've been trying to achieve. I think you end up getting closer to interesting final projects this way anyway. Also - It's worth spending ...

I've had this on repeat for about half an hour at work. Not a banger I know but I think it's an amazing minimal groove track.

I'm really confused my this - trying to use this a send and it's not doing any stretching... It just repeats the signal that's being sent through it.

Re: how do you think techno will sound in the coming years?
I'm often quite amazed by how bothered people on here seem to be about putting down 'generic music', when I think a lot of music that people here seem to like is actually also really generic. Genre's are fine... there's not much electronic club music that isn't generic. They just fall in different g...

Re: FM synthesis for noobs
I've seen a fair few of this guys videos - they cover a whole range of stuff from really useful things, to just plain ridiculous fun. I don't like his music very much, but he seems very adventurous, friendly, open etc.. And also I admire the fact that he has tackled basically waking up one day with ...

I kinda missed the live performance element in your opening post, sorry! I wouldn't have been confidently recommending for that purpose (great sounds for production though)

I second Maschine Mk3 as an option. The drum synths are cool and you can build all sorts of customised kits with them.

Re: Hip Hop - What the fuck happened PT 2
I honestly don't think Hip Hop/Rap is in much more of a 'worse state' than it has ever been before. It's just fine, with loads of amazing stuff around if you look for it. Plus, we are in the era of Kendrick - the genuine GOAT. UK Hip Hop is especially awesome right now - probably the best it's ever ...

Re: Any of you guys use an MPC?
A while ago I bought an MPC 4000. For a little while I was buzzing off it - there's no doubt it's fun to use. Especially for someone like myself who has gone from years of trying to make Techno and not really clicking, to finding a proper love for making Hip Hop beats. (there's still room for a bit ...
