Re: A new YouTube video, at last (Dub Techno stuff)
Macca short answer: EQ Three uses IIR filters. Which introduce phase shifts. Dunno if it's the same on 10, but I layered up a bunch in 9 to test this and couldn't hear a difference. Turns out that there's a "flat response" checkmark option that's available from right-clicking the header of an EQ3.

Re: Production streaming and production streamers
IMHO the community aspect is what makes this content worthwhile. (/followed btw) I've been messing around with setups to get it working for DJ and liveset practice and also just straight up accountability while programming, but honestly I am not the type to consume these long boring vids. I like it ...

Re: Bandsplitting
I do it quite frequently to create different amounts of textures at diff frequency ranges. But rarely ever more than one track per song. It seems to work best on big things that have a wide range of the frequency spectrum. I guess that's why these use it in neuro since those basses are all over the ...

super happy this is happening. subsekt is a rare beast in terms of online communities. would love to see it prosper in any way it can.
i would enjoy contributing in the form of opinions on the spectrum from half-baked to over-thought.
would be down to offer tracks too

Re: Apc40 mk2 build quality?
mk2 has way more functionality, but a year in and one of my sliders' MIDI jumps around randomly. knobs are super solid though. RGB pads are nice and useful.
planning to upgrade to livid or go back to the monome at some point though. apc mk2 does the job but i'm not in love with it

Re: Techno as subversive political action
I'm gonna pull a Hades and reply twice in a row :P Dance music as a whole movement, has completely lost touch with it`s rebellious roots. It has completely lost connection to any counterculture, if indeed there is any counterculture any more. I was part of the post criminal justice act rave scene of...

Re: Techno as subversive political action
Was techno really ever a counterculture? Outside of the free festival/squatter scene I kinda doubt it. It wasn't really in opposition to mainstream society other than perhaps on the subject of drugs, was it? Also the commercialization of techno has been discussed as long as I can remember not in th...

Re: Voidloss creative sample pack.
No matter what you do, it's gonna sound great, no doubt about that. What I love most about your sound is the textures and 'the crush', the visceral details in the mids to highs that immediately conjure ideas of physical machinations, and the overwhelming whomp of pressure of the hits. So, ...

Techno as subversive political action
Techno has always been counter-culture. I think that's been an important aspect for many of us. With all the money and the mainstream these days it can certainly look less so, but money cannot co-opt it's essence if we keep it alive. I spend a lot of time thinking and reading about alternative syste...

What are your ways, tricks, habits, rituals, etc, to boost your motivation on making music? sometimes in life there are times when your motivation goes down? what do you do? take a break? or try to boost it? and how? Record something everyday. It is called producing only if you do. when it sucks, k...

Lots of nice pretty pictures. Looks perfect for some rich kid's high rise apartment to sit next to all his high-priced trustfunded gear that is not covered in dust only because his cleaning lady keeps it immaculate. A friend of mine used to play this style of techno, and also was a fine purveyor of the black crack so he most likely would recognize it. https://www.mixcloud.com/ctrl_opt_cmd/

dancing about architecture... we're not post-genres yet, but one persons definition rarely is another's. there's a level of similarity within communities of usage that facilitates discussion, but there's no one right answer. or if there is, it will be decided in some history book, not by those in th...

Re: Perfectionism turns into self-doubt
Loosen up a bit, flow comes easier when you relax. Give yourself permission to fuck up. If you have trouble letting go of control, you can put yourself in a situation where you intentionally fuck up with no consequences (in front of friends; not saving a session; just messing around; exploring sound...

hi guys, I'm looking for a studio and I am wondering if there is a perfect size for it so I dont have to invest to much in acoustic treatment. Are there any measurements I should aim for? Tnx! Ideally you want variable dimensions and irregularities that will minimize acoustic interference, maybe so...

Re: Help with headphone choice
The thing I'm worried is that these headphones will be the only ones I will have. And I would also like to use these for track searching and DJ-ing, hence why I'm worried that they might sound too flat. Sorry I'm very confused by all this and really want to make the right choice. I got some AKG k27...
