Re: I've finished like 2 tracks the last 3 or so years
^ great advice in the posts above, I'm someone who has really struggled to finish stuff in the past. To elaborate on this what do you think holds you back from finishing these tracks, is it perfectionism? For me I just knew I was gonna make a mess out of a great idea, and I often did, and still do.....

Re: Do you have any long-term musical goals (even abstract, pompous or hilarious ones)?
Good question. The first goal, keep making music and enjoying the process and improving. My goal a few years ago was to just finish some bloody tracks and stop dicking around with half finished loops I'd love to create a really decent IDM-ish album, yeah I know it was done to death in 90's but it wo...

Absolutely, I'd be very interested in this.
Your guides that are sticky-ed in the Hole on how to do a basic home master and mix buss compression have been massively helpful to me.

Re: Pop tunes from your youth that you hated
Top Tip: Bookmark this thread and revisit in the winter. Revisiting the the turd infested waterfall of crap music in this thread on a chilly day will make cringe yourself warm, very warm. Now please ignite your lighter and raise 'em high one more time for Simple Minds (and pay attention to the penny...

Some right stinkers above.
But now I'm talking proper childhood trauma - my mother had an album by this lot that just got played on repeat. I still feel slight nauseous to this day when I hear Pan Pipes.

Nothing like a discussion of shit pop music to pull a lurker like me out of the shadows. Nostalgia ain't like it used to be :) Please bear in mind I was very small, but I do remember pop music being in the background everywhere when I was wee whippersnapper, even my local library where I used to get...

Great topic. Something I don't really understand so I hardly ever bother using compressors. Will check this out tomorrow and follow along. Really pleased your using free and stock plugins too, nice one!

Re: Sound Design streams against isolation
I have just been following along with the Droney techno video, excellent video. I have mostly ignored the wavetable synth until now. Had loads of fun playing with it today. I feel like a bit of chump owning the amount of VSTs that I do when one of the the built in Ableton synths sounds this bloody g...

Sounds excellent, look forward to it. I was present on the dub techno live stream a few years back (when we were all cooking in the heat!), very helpful.rktic wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 12:20 pmHm. How about some Downwards fashioned grumpy old men Techno for the next session?

I'd love to - it takes me about 2 months to finish one track.
How the hell can you finish a track in a day? (serious question).
Your workflow must be shit hot. Hats off to ya.

Re: Andy Weatherall Has Died _ RIP
56 is no age, what I liked about him was he just did not give a flying, he'd get booked at house and garage clubs in the 90's, because he was Weatherall, and just pound them with techno all night and convert them. A true pioneer, one off... Agreed, witnessed him play so many good sets in the 90's a...
