Re: Any Motu 828es users here?

Actually shot this off to Motu support and got this reply: It is possible to get post-effect signal from the 828es' virtual mixer and record it into Ableton. There are a couple of ways to do this: 1) You can use the Post-FX channels, which are available in the top right-hand corner of the Routing Gr...

Any Motu 828es users here?

Hey all, been a while... I'm a bit lost with a few aspects of how to use the 828es browser based routing and Live. Previously I used a mixing desk with Firewire so I'm a bit new to AIs. Some of these questions might be dumb... I can get audio from my 828es into Live. No issue. But I have to mute the...

Re: Hardware sequencers (Sequentix Cirklon)

How is CC editing performed? There many ways. It depends if you in P3 or CK tracks. Both have the ability to assigns knobs to control CC in real time. In P3 you can direct Aux to a particular CC value. You can make enter static values and leave them, or adjust them via accumulators. I would like to...

Re: Hardware sequencers (Sequentix Cirklon)

yeah, i still lurk on occasion, just not making techno anymore. I been learning music theory and getting into making deeper, jazzier house. That had always been my passion anyway. Do you mostly use the Cirklon for sequencing a single song, or have you ever tried creating more of a live set with mult...

Re: Hardware sequencers (Sequentix Cirklon)

can you insert a PC or cc msg at the start of a pattern, which is only emitted once, the foirst time the pattern plays? it should be ignored when the pattern repeats Yes. You could set it to only happen if an accumulator is lower than X. On the next step, increase the accumulators value so it doesn'...

Re: Hardware sequencers (Sequentix Cirklon)

Yeah, I have one. It can do straight sequencing, no issues. very simple to implement that. It gets interesting with you start using the logic functionality. It's pretty deep but a simple example would be to set 2 tracks up. The first has a stream of note values plugged in and sends them to an instru...

EQ Sweeps

I'm not talking about the technique to identify frequencies that you wanna cut or boost. I was watching Adrian Sherwood at work on his desk. He was putting a mixdown together and talked about performing an EQ sweep. I'm curious, is he using the EQ in the way one might do a filter sweep? I never use ...

Re: Let talks Modular Synthesis (noobie)

it's not released yet. Matthias talks about it in the warps thread on muffs. I won't steal his glory by saying what it is yet, but (as he mentions) it has 9 modes, with one mode being the original feature set. I just finished doing the manual today. shouldn't be that much longer tills it's out but t...

Re: Let talks Modular Synthesis (noobie)

here, i threw a quick starter rack together. this would be fun and balanced. The dixie is a very solid Osc. Lots of wave shapes and the sync and flip inputs are super. Sub out is great to have. Warps has an alternate firmware I'm beta testing right now. Trust me, it's awesome. Three sisters is cool....

Re: Let talks Modular Synthesis (noobie)

@dylanlolwut I don't have Maths. I believe it's a great module in a compact system. I think the functionality it offers (envelope, inverter, attenuator etc.) is too critical in my system. If i use 2 channels as envelopes, then i loose the inverters etc... So i rather have dedicated modules for these...

Re: Let talks Modular Synthesis (noobie)

Look at Clouds. Anyone who has it will tell you it really comes alive with modulation. Let's say for instance you want to modulate 3 parameters. Notice is has no attenuators? U throw a lfo in there and the parameter will swing from -5 to +5. You'll want to control that range. That's 1 attenuator. Le...

Re: Let talks Modular Synthesis (noobie)

I haven't posted here for ages, but the shit in this thread inspired me. well done cunts. If you go out and buy all those modules in one go you will be fucked. Simple. Planning a 9U set-up without even having touched a module is going to end badly. You will be overwhelmed with all the learning you n...

Re: Roland - Hardware Quality...

t's not hard to compare something made 30 years ago to something that was made yesterday. You just do it. Look at column A then look at column B. Now. Compare. Yes, it's that simple. Because they use the same methods and resources as they did 30 years ago. Wait... was the 808 build in a Shenzhen fa...

Re: Roland - Hardware Quality...

If Roland's build quality sucks so much how is it that people are still using 30 year old drum machines and synths built by them? if? are we debating if the build quality sucks? Anyway, how can you compare something made 30 years ago to something made yesterday? Just because it's under the same bra...
