Re: Gun laws in th USA
The Jim Jefferies bit is on point! Having an actual discussion about it with gun owners proves to be futile most of the time. They get very angry and defensive and most of them will deflect the conversation into a semantics debate about how "assault weapons" don't actually exist, and their rifles ar...

Targeted ads based on conversations you have had in real life, with actual people. You phone being able to record pretty much everything from the people you are with, time of day, location, type of phone etc... There was something he mentioned about clustering Android devices but I literally can no...

Anyone who thinks Android are any better is sadly misguided  Unless you are using a Nokia 3210, you are pretty much fucked  Android is actually worse than Apple for doing shady shit. Check Blackphone from Silent Circle. Blackphone2 is pricey but the first gen can be found cheaper secondha...

Yeah trueHades wrote: well, yeah, it's complicated, but it includes pretty much every genre possible, not just all the electronical music.
so how could you not make an overview like that complicated.
didn't check out the music examples yet though.

Re: Interactive musical genre map!
Very well made site, if a little overcomplicated in design. Think it needs some work though, I was confused by a few example choices. Like in the hardcore techno category it has a bunch of straight up drum 'n bass. Then in the breakbeat there's some dancehall, in the DnB I'd say a few tracks seemed ...

Re: Akai drum machine
Cheap is subjective I guess, but ebay hunting mostly. Cheap and Ebay in one sentence? Most of the ebay prices are very high and the bidding often makes it even worse. It's best to buy your second hands stuff local via some second hand website. It also reduces the chance of losing money by fake adve...

Re: Akai drum machine
Where do do you find a 606 or a 707 for cheap? They are getting quite expensive over here! Do you already have other equipment or is it your first hardware? While mfb, 606 etc are cool they shure do need processing. also, how are you recording? A computer, mixer? How many outputs do you want on you...

Re: Akai drum machine
I don't mention the AKAI's because they are not worth mentioning them. These boxes get really bad reviews and suck balls! Akai has really fallen off in the last few years. Even their pads have taken a dive which they were known for being the best in the industry for a decade++. : / Gotta say though...

Re: BREXIT - The Aftermath
No way should the public be left to decide such a HUGE decision. That's why there is a representative democracy. We elect people to make those choices for us. The public have NO idea about the short and long term consequences. The public gets most of its info from The Sun, and Steve is right, what ...

Re: "Proper" deep house chords
Are you programming them? You'll need to actually play them by hand. A 12 bit vintage sampler and looping certain chords helps get the sound down sure, but the human touch makes them come full circle imo. Maybe that's why they sound too techno like you say? Too robotic? Also yeah take it easy on fx ...

Re: is there an all in one hardware synth?
Yup I agree on the MPC "synth". More of a tone generator really. I had an RS7000 along with some other old Yamaha gear. The internal sounds were dated the day they came out. You can definitely work with them to get something useful, but the power in the Yamaha stuff was the sequencing and sampling a...

Re: Am I gimping myself by not buying more vst fx?
There's very few effects plugins I'd consider buying. Meaning generic effects like distortion and delay, not some kind of UAD mastering plugin. The amount of free stuff to experiment with is just insane. Seriously just 15 minutes reading KVR and you've got weeks worth of interesting ones to play wit...

Their club their rules tbh. I really don't want to see some guy going spastic on drumpads myself. Not because it's a controller, just because I think it sounds kinda shit. Other than that, as long as they are actually doing stuff with the controllers and not just running around throwing cake on peop...

That's a perfect mockup of those old music equipment ads hah. He/they (warp) likes to advertise his new music in weird ways. Yeah an EP I'm sure. He's released like 3 or 4 since Syro but I think they were all just randomly uploaded under weird names and then deleted. I didn't get to hear them. Also ...

Re: mid bass donk
Can be done several ways, but yeah FM is one way. There's also samples of those floating around. It's similar to a garage bassline but with a shorter envelope. You can get pretty close by detuning 2 square waves, pretty much what Planar is saying. Short attack, play with the filter and maybe a littl...
