Re: waldorf micro Q
The change in sound is the move away from their traditional wavetable synthesis method. The newer models, Blofeld etc are all using more modern dsp and digital sample based synthesis. The wavetable sound is the one we all know and love as Waldorf. If I could find a secondhand Microwave XT, the big o...

Re: Maschine Quesiton
Yup as Mattias has said, there's a tick box in the load dialog that once unticked stops the patterns loading. I've never had this problem myself so not sure what I'm doing different. That said I rarely use anything but my own kits.
Re: Acoustics
True the acoustic environment you work in matters a great deal, but as has been said, if you know your room well enough it doesn't stop you getting great results. And to further prove this point, nobody working as a mastering engineer for less than a few hundred pounds a day has a perfect room eithe...

Re: Using Maschine in Ableton
If that's what you want to do, which is exactly what I do with Mashcine, then I would highly recommend mashine mikro. It's cheap, secondhand ones go for around £200-250! And the step sequencer is so powerful, one you learn a few button combos with shift you can make a one bar loop a 4 bar loop with ...

Re: Headphone help
Sounds good, I get what you mean by being totally immersed in the sound, that's one thing I do like about in-ears. Hmm might have to try a pair. Be handy for work anyway.

Re: Headphone help
Quite a few bands and drummers I work with use those. They are amazing sounding, but don't you find in-ears tire your ears quicker with extended use? I've never used a set of these for long enough to know, but find that with other in-ears. Curious to know if these are any better?

Re: Using Maschine in Ableton
I don't know enough about Push to say for sure, but I'd imagine you'd have the same issue I did using the APC step sequencer, whilst your using it you can't use the pads for launching clips anymore. I went with maschine and an APC so I could do both at the same time. Beyond that I've no idea. Push s...

Re: Headphone help
I use a pair of 80ohm Sellout DT250s. Awesome headphones. Over 7 years old now and apart from recently having to replace a driver, they've never failed me. Best thing about Beyers is you can get practically all the parts easily. Both the pairs you mention are great choices. The bass response is kind...

Re: Using Maschine in Ableton
I use maschine mikro with Live and live. I cain it in our live sets, step sequencer takes a beating when we play live, all of our live techno stuff is improvised, so I don't have any loops in maschine before we start, I just program as the set progresses. I love it, I couldn't do what I do without i...

Re: waldorf micro Q
I had one, the yellow rack version, loved it! But then I'm a huge Waldorf fan. Read the manual like it's a good book, it sort of is, Waldorf manuals are really well written and once you've been through it you'll jump far ahead in the quality of sounds your making. All Waldorfs have a certain sound, ...

Re: Mid-Side. What the hell is it?
There are some great m/s decoder and encoder analogue diy kits out there too. They aren't too hard to build either. If you like it in the digital plugin domain you should hear it with some tasty hardware comps and eq

Re: Monitors _ Front or Back/Rear Port? [Sounds dodgy I know
Yup as has been said, stuffing ports isn't a wise move. It can make the monitors sound more pleasing, but the ports are there for a reason and it can indeed affect the lifespan of drivers and the cabinets themselves. There was a pair by someone a few years back that came with two different sets of f...

Re: Monitors _ Front or Back/Rear Port? [Sounds dodgy I know
Port placement or no port means nothing in terms of choosing monitors, it's all down to how the design of a particular set. Ports are there for a wide range of reasons, which specifically depends on the design aim and approach. Yes some smaller monitors suffer from port noise with bass heavy music, ...

Yamaha TX81Z, secret weapon if you like the morphing stuff. Bitch to programme but well worth it, it makes sense eventually. Cheap as anything these days too.

I've never looked for an 800 to four pin 400 lead, but I bet they're out there. I know you can get 800 to 4 pin mini firewire, so don't see why not full size too.

Re: Korg MS2000B
Novations I love! Had a basstation rack for years, bought a Nova for £849!! the day they came out, never regretted that money, you can run anything through the filters, FX etc. Also owned Supernovas, drum stations. Most they've made over the years. Just sound big. It's so subjective, but I A/Bed a n...
