Re: Generic Airwindows plugin thread / tips, recommendations etc

Forgot to mention the all-time classic, Mackity. I use it all the time. Great on a drum buss.

Re: mervv - boundary

I took note of what many people said about the bass and the reverb a while back. I tightened the envelope on the bass elements, which I think achieved the result I was going for where it's very bass-heavy but less overpowering. I also turned down the reverb on the percussion. I think I had become nu...

Re: Com Punchin

Yeah I think Barfunkel is right that some of the panning is a little excessive. Otherwise, I really like the sound design and the modulation you do have going on is great. This sounds unique and really fun. The balance sounds good and everything is very clear. It's also super punchy.

Re: The Lab - Drifyn.

those stabs(?) playing 16th notes with a bandpass filter on them out to the sides sound really cool. It sounds really busy in the second half, but that's also where you've got all the most interesting sounds in my opinion. I am not too partial to the acid-esque synth, but amobe is right that it give...

Re: mervv 2 tracks

After not replying to my own thread for so long, I'm back with both improved versions of these two tracks and some others (might as well not be greedy and make a new thread). There is something about the first track that makes it seems like a very long intro without the kick ever coming. it got me a...

Re: Generic Airwindows plugin thread / tips, recommendations etc

just tried out density on the recommendation from this thread, it sounds great. Very volatile, though. I personally really like channel 9 and I played around with one of his console plugins for a while but started to feel it was complicating things too much (you have to have every channel at unity g...

Hornet plugins all 75% off

Just happened upon their website and noticed that the plugins are all 75% off for the next few days. They were already cheap, but now they're 3-5 euros a piece. I've never used their stuff but the lack of DRM and other bullshit gives me a nice impression of them as a company, at least. https://www.h...

Re: Secret Place -Dub Techno

https://soundcloud.com/tvsky/secret-place some dub techno from a little while ago This is great! I really love the vibe. Most deep and dubbed-out stuff tends to be so melancholic. This sounds hopeful. Very blissful but also made me want to dance. The mix sounds excellent to me, I can't make any com...

mervv 2 tracks

I have two things I want to share, so I figured I'd just make one post instead of clogging up the board. First is this one. There's something about the high-mids and highs that I'm not quite happy with, but otherwise I'm fairly pleased with the overall vibe of this one. Then there's this one, which ...

Re: ASK US ANYTHING [NO SUBJECT IS STUPID / ALL QUESTIONS WELCOMED]

I read someone describe Fred Again as "Burial for gen z" or something like that and I thought it was fitting. A lot of his songs are really catchy and nice, though. He really blew up after having a very popular Boiler Room set last year. It's sentimental house and garage with a lot of vocal samples....

Re: mervv - boundary

Thanks everyone! nice track! the low end is a bit boomy and out of control here on my hifi setup - focal bookshelfs , jamo sub , onkyo amp . the reference is not , low end is nice , bass notes well defined . here is a nice vid on tightening subs with fabfilter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJYYDCj...

mervv - boundary

A track I'd like some feedback on. I was going for a particular things with the low-end, I'll share the reference for that too. The whole thing (and the low end in particular) started out as me trying to ape this Luke Slater song. Obviously it went another direction. M9aI0vwm1Vs This track was parti...

Re: Effects...plug ins, Black Friday chaos

I bought Wavesfactory Spectre because it's 50% off and I like it a lot. Comes highly recommended by others on the forum as well. I got it because I like how flexible it is (being multiband and having per-band modes and other controls) and it can do very subtle to fairly destructive. Also the UI look...

Mix bus EQ/processing best practices

I have a question for any mastering engineers or other wise sages I was looking at the TDR SlickEQ Mastering edition and was considering picking it up because I use a few other TDR plugins and like them a lot, and this one has some nice features. Here's the manual for reference But then I got to thi...

Re: Chabo - Funktion

Sounds good! I am not usually a rumble-bass fan, but this one is doing it for me. The tom in the background adds a lot to the groove. To me, on my at-work listening headphones, the percussion all sounds a bit thin, like you high-passed it too much. It's all very sizzly without much body beneath it. ...

Re: tvsky - overtone

Sounds cool and your idea is executed clearly, everything feels purposeful so it feels like a strong track. I agree others that it needs to breathe a little bit more! It feels like I'm listening to a sausage. I think you could maintain the very aggressive, even claustrophobic feeling but give everyt...

Does anyone want anything? I just feel that a have more plugins than time at this stage. I did grab izotope's audiolens because it was free - I slightly more intrigued about how it works than actually using it. I've got my eye on a few things, namely toraverb2 and tekturon by D16 group (and possibl...

Re: ASM Hydrosynth

Resurrecting this thread to say I got my hands on the desktop version last week. I finally got around to digging into it last night and I'm enjoying it a lot so far. To be honest, I'm a little overwhelmed with the amount of options, but that isn't a bad thing. It feels good to use, both in terms of ...
