Re: Contacting record labels

Some interesting replies, thanks. I'll re-read them and comment later, otherwise these stupid little things called emotions get in the way and turn this thread into a mud-throwing contest which is silly. Non-Monty Python silly, more like stupid and pointless. как дела! (sorry for nooby Russian, I'm ...

Re: What video games are you folks playing?

I'm playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Haven't had a heart attack yet so that's a plus. I'm totally into horror movies but with games I'm a total small cat and squeal like a little girl every time I hear that monster roar. I'm also playing A Plague Tale: Innocence (28 hours). Fantastic game, incredi...

Re: Contacting record labels

[UPDATE] I've just checked out the music of 4 labels I contacted (and whom all ignored me) to hear if they're still stuck in the "Boom-Ts-Boom-Ts"-techno that's been going on since the (mid?) nineties. This may sound harsh but it's the truth, some people (or record label owners) seem to be afraid of...

Contacting record labels

Is it a bad idea to do this when your tracks aren't 100% finished yet? This week I sent 12 emails to hard techno labels. I got 1 reply and when I told them the songs aren't fully finished yet they too went silent. I even told them I'm Creative Commons and they can make money from it without having t...

Re: How do you deal with "being multi-talented"?

Different moods indeed, but to me those three tracks have enough of your signature sound and style to not clash that much with each other. This being said, I do understand what you mean. I like so many different genres of music - from Gregorian chant and Irish trad to punk/metal - that I can never ...

Re: Bandcamp recommendations....

Are you ready for a mOnSteR? Scalameriya is a Serbian guy firing his demons onto an unsuspecting public. I hate Spotify, yet I found him through them. Just play it LOUD! 🤘 😈 https://genesarecords.bandcamp.com/track/a1-scalameriya-imperial-visage First listen I had no words. Then, "What planet is thi...

I hope I don't get whipped for this but here are 3 examples of my diversity. I'm sure you can't put these on the same EP. :) https://soundcloud.com/monoteksist/mt-body-modification-lp https://soundcloud.com/monoteksist/monoteksist-tarquin-loop https://soundcloud.com/monoteksist/mu-santa-muerte-live-...

How do you deal with "being multi-talented"?

I don't want to sound pompous but I can't restrict myself to make tunes in 1 or 2 genres, I've always had this "re-inventing the wheel"-thing inside me with each new project. I really love music too much to not try my stab at movie soundtracks, drum 'n bass, epic music and my own style I don't even ...

Micro delay of one channel.
Stillwell CMX does this to a very fine degree, you can also micro pitch shift one channel to get a more 3d effect.
Thanks, I really need to improve my vocal fx skills.
Although I do think that just messing about arbitrarily can get you pretty far as well.

Re: How to create this vocal effect

Super super simple, you just need a harmoniser or several copies of the vocal at different pitches. That`s literally all it is. I`ve been doing this to vocals for years. Sounds more "evil" when you use dissonant pitches rather than harmonies. Thanks a lot Steve, I'll look into harmonies in a techni...

Re: How to create this vocal effect

I don't see why this couldn't be under the hole section - in general there aren't super many vocals in techno, so a dedicated subforum might be a bit overkill Unless your imagination is at near-constant lightspeed; to commit yourself to just one genre would be akin to ego-death. :) I just produce w...

How to create this vocal effect

From the movie Evil Dead: Rhmv40SBzS4 The vocal starts at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhmv40SBzS4&t=71s And in general maybe it'd be cool to have a forum subsection "Vocal Effects" (don't beat me if it already exists, I didn't check). Krotos' Dehumaniser I and II are great for demon/monster voca...

Good to see it's being well-liked. *Thinks - I'm on the wrong bloody website! I know what total silence means by now. Obviously also applies to my other post.* Another of my problems is that I'm not allowed to make any €$ from my music because of society's rigidity. To organizations, institutions et...

Re: What non-techno are you listening to right now?

Right now I'm listening to Easton Hope by Orden Ogan. I've got 3 albums from them. I don't know, they tickle some bone or something. :p It all started with this one: oqGfr_stmxg I find the contrast between the intro and the rest of the song totally amazing. And their "We Are Pirates!" video is hila...

Re: A tip for people into movie soundtrack production

To be fair to Mr. JunkieXL, it might not have been his call. Sometimes the person doing the score supplies the music, but doesn't necessarily have creative control over how it's used - it could be down to the director. Sorry for the late answer, but what does a director know about music use/placeme...

Got live with Live again, the percussion part is underdeveloped but I don't have an arrangement to edit, besides editing a live mix sounds stupid to me anyway. It's the journey that counts sometimes, not the end result. Nice and dirty-sounding again, I prefer it that way. The pitch-shifting was done...

I first wanted to expand on it later on, but then I thought "Nuts to this, it's good enough as an intro mix", so this is the final version. But I'll do an extended mix anyway. Regarding mixing/mastering quality: to me, on my speakers it sounds 99% as I'd wanted it to sound. https://soundcloud.com/mo...
