Re: New members say hello...
At the moment, I'm sitting here with noise-cancelling headphones on, surrounded by my girls who are playing "Just Dance 3" on the Wii, and who are begging for a replay of dad going nuts on "hey boy, hey girl" ("hey dad, I didn't know you could really dance", ow the shame..."but I make electronic mu...

Re: New members say hello...
of course it's subjective as fuck. :) I'm quite sure there are tons of sounds (and therefore sound libraries containing them) that are being sold today that would have never even been popular or in demand 20 or even 10 years ago. That's certainly true. It's funny how certain sounds can go into and ...

Re: The Best Way To Clean Vinyl?
I used to work in a 2nd hand record store and we always used the special vinyl cleaner spray bottles and a very soft cloth. The manager, who worked with records for over 20 years, swore by the stuff. IIRC water is not the best solution because of the calcium which will stay in the groove when the wa...

Re: how do you think techno will sound in the coming years?
I agree with void on hate/anger being a fuel to make art. I feel very inspired to make music when i'm angry or depressed, but I still understand that to each their own and different people may get inspired by other feelings/things. I also agree that most art is fueled by negative emotions, like ang...

Thanks for tube tipHades wrote:maybe you can go back, maybe not
but to have youtube links to work
just use the part that comes after the "v=" inside the youtube brackets
But what do you mean by "maybe you can go back, maybe not"?

Re: how do you think techno will sound in the coming years?
So this is a pretty long thread already with some sub-discussions going on... I'm new here so I'm kind of stumbling right into the middle of this. I kind of latched on to some of the earlier comments about modern techno being pretty dark/grim with many dystopian themes. I guess in a way techno has a...

Re: Jim Sandford - Frisk
I found that the background stuff was interesting and kept me listening but agree with the above poster about the bleep sound that comes in, it could do with some more variation either melodically or sound-wise. The rhythm was pretty sharp/tight soundwise but was also very sparsely arranged, could d...

Re: FZRA
Had a listen to this and I enjoy the synth work - that's very well done. I feel the rhythm was a bit too static/simple for me for most of the track, though it works better in the second part where the synths are all playing. Maybe just work on the hihats a bit, make a more complex pattern.

Cervantes fan huh ? :) Browsing through your SC now. Did you ever consider trying out other DAW's than just Reason ? If nothing else, it would broaden your horizon/options... If all the sounds on your tracks were yours, then I like your sound design, though when used in tracks, it's a little too mu...

Re: New members say hello...
Hi, I'm Paul from Amsterdam. I used to be a DJ, but then I took an arrow to the knee, and founded my own sound design company and general creative outlet called "Quixotic Sound Design". I'm really into all kinds of electronic music - when I was a DJ I started out playing psytrance and (after the cre...
