Re: A guide to home "Mastering" of your own tunes

In relation to the pre processed mix...
Let me rephrase. What effect does "home mastering" as you describe generally have on the dynamic range of the mix?

Re: A guide to home "Mastering" of your own tunes

Is the dynamic range expected to decrease and if so what is a ball park number? I understand that it most likely depends on the source material but I thought I'd ask anyway...I find it extremely difficult to not get around 2-3 dynamic range reduction, especially when applying limiting.

Re: How to not get bored of your own bars/patterns?

It might also be a workflow issue? I work pretty slowly so I really need to force myself to not over listen to my loops. Try to work on elements more in solo and not have the entire loop running while tinkering, only occasionally listening in context to hear what needs to be done to get the elements...

Re: Jordanneke - Cebu

I like the groove aswell! I'm more into this kinda stuff aswell lately as was posted earlier. I agree the highs could maybe use a shizzle boost to come out a little more. I also found the kick a little heavy in the 100-200hz region? Feel it's kinda gettin in the way of the bass at times. I'm on bad ...

Re: Squil - Never Know

I really like the vibe of the track! There was some panning going on with the pad sounds that kinda through me off a bit in the middle of the tune though, dont think that kinda movement works for this kinda pad driven stuff, atleast not that much. Also the rides felt a bit dry to me and didnt really...

Re: How often do you guys use compression?

Isnt a transient shaper kind of the same thing as compression though? What is the difference? I use compression alot of the times for shaping/controlling transients would I be better off with a transient designer?

Re: Help with headphone choice

I've got the m50 and I think they're ok at best to listen to but i wouldn't recommend them for mixing! Find them very boxy and too bassy. I got the akg701 after them being advised here on the forum and after some getting used to i absolutely love em! Think there's a couple of other threads on the fo...
