Re: Mix bus EQ/processing best practices
Yeah totally, I guess I mean when working on something in isolation you can end up have a mix that has an overall bias that's only revealed when you check against reference. So as a mix it's working in terms of the relationships between the tracks, it's just the overall frequency balance of the mix ...

Re: Mix bus EQ/processing best practices
Interesting discussion. I must admit I'm pretty bad for applying generous eq to the master and have always felt like I'm doing something 'wrong'. The reason it happens is that typically my rough mixes are tuned together during the initial phase, so everything is relatively balanced. Then when I star...

Re: DFAM sync problems /
I clock my DFAM (and the rest of my modular) using this method: https://www.modwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=235953 It's the only way I could get latency compensation working in Ableton for both monitoring and recording. I also wrote an applet for O_c Hemispheres to add reset support to the DFAM...

Re: To Drummachine or not to Drummachine?
indeed, fantastic stuff!!! missed the 'my' when reading first. Thanks a bunch! it works great, well documented. Great to hear, thanks! Let me know if you run into any issues. Okay! I have haha. For some reason, it doesn't like a lot of the presets from the new Vintage Tonic pack - they just play as...

Re: DRUMMER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER - MOOG
Cool:) I have neither though, might get a DFAM in time only trying not to add too many digital modules. Menu diving with tiny screens and knobs isn't really my cup of tea.. And not to start about dirty power rails and such... Yeah fair enough it is a lot of faff... works nicely once you get it all ...

Re: DRUMMER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER - MOOG
Since there is no reset input, you'll have to manually set it to the last step before hitting play, or if your sequencer/clock source has the option, it's simplest to stop it on a whole measure. It would be possible with some patching/routing, you would first need to divide your clock by 8 and then...

Re: DRUMMER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER - MOOG
ay, then i would need a new interface too. any experiences with minijack midi -> clock in? i got an usamo so i could get stable midi out of that There is no midi in, it's a pure analogue machine. When I first got it I used the midi in on my mother-32 to get a clock signal to sync the dfam but hones...

Re: DRUMMER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER - MOOG
Sync means a clock signal in. Easiest way to do this from Ableton is sending clock over cv using a dc coupled interface. This will work and is stable but there is no built in reset for the sequencer which is annoying. There are workarounds if you have a modular system.

Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
Have to say, I'll buy it but there isn't that much in this release that's appealing. 16 macro slots is great to have but a larger rethink of the macro system is long overdue. What's next, Live 12 now 24 macro slots? Not really fussed about a bunch of M4L devices I probably won't ever use. The new bu...

Re: DRUMMER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER - MOOG
It's great. The most 'techno' synth I own. Definitely has a specific sound out of the box but you can go beyond that with thoughtful patching. You can make great techno loops with a DFAM, drum machine and a delay.

Re: Looking for my way back.
Many ways to get out of a creative rut but I've found moving away from the computer to hardware (without patch recall) has been a big step forward because: - Forces me to commit to audio straight away, no endless noodling - Not looking at a computer screen all the time seems to focus my brain more o...

Good introductory video by loopop comparing Room EQ Wizard, Sonarworks and ARC. Probably pretty unscientific but still educational for me.

Re: Contoribillo
Thanks for the feedback! I find it hard to judge the very low end because my monitors roll off around 50Hz, but I do have a subpac so I'll take a look at it with that. For the topend you think it's too fizzy? I always find my mixes end up sounding dull compared to reference tracks. Will look at the ...

This was a product of my newfound enthusiasm for hardware. Synths are DFAM + Mother 32, drums are all Microtonic (well except the 909 ride) via my Just the Tonic max plugin.
Any thoughts gratefully received...
