Post by LuigiTozzii »

If i lower the volume it disappears but maybe you guys can explain me how can I do to remove this kind of distortion without lowering the volume...

Hi Luigi,

If you're refering to that tiny click on top of the kick it could be various things causing it. Sample start point not being on a zero crossing, if you're using the kick in the arrangement maybe try a little fade-in, it could be a property of the sample itself. You could try some eq-ing or a low pass filter to soften it or use a transient shaper in reverse to remove it. If it's something low-end oriented then I'm not hearing anything. Anyways some nice stuff on your soundcloud :)

=) Thanks for listening mate!
I am refering to this shitty click yes,it is a matter of volume I think because if i lower the volume it disappears...but then comes another question:why are the volumes of what i do in Ableton so low?I always have to increase the gain of the master to get a decent volume, but this can cause these kind of problems....Did you have the same troubles?

Ah I see now, if lowering the volume fixes it then just do it & base everything around that kick volume. It could be you're getting some unintentional distortion. Don't know about volumes being low; but try not to touch the master volume fader and use your sound card volume knob or system volume to set your desired output volume. I usually get the kick to -12db on a channel & work around that.

It's probably a plugin clipping on your kick.

If you are using an audio file in Live - have you selected "fade" in the clip options?

This is it:

Having no fade-in as shown in the upper clip can cause clicks. Sometimes you need just a tiny amount of it to remove the click & keep the initial punch. If you have it in a simpler or sampler then adding a bit of attack can help or using the snap function which keeps it at a zero crossing.

Samples will not clip/crack/noise at the end or beginning if you use fades(like they said) or cut the sample at the digital 0 pass(that horizontal line in the middle of your waveform).
Some plugins uses a sample delay before they work or oversampling, this can also be the reason for clipping and noise

yes the problem came from the plugin but filtering a little more and with EQ it's out now.
