Source Audio - Atlas Compressor
Source Audio - Atlas Compressor
who knows someone's listening...
So, I was looking for a pedal compressor for guitar/bass with a possibility of using it as a buss comp for electronic live sets should I find a stereo pedal.
I came across the Atlas - https://www.sourceaudio.net/atlas-compressor.html - and it seems to fit the bill. Several types of compression, possibility to have dual stereo compression, routing options, eqs, it's not analogue but DSP driven, so knobs can be assigned to parameters of choice in the comprehensive editor,... Too bad my mixer has no inserts on the master and the Atlas is unbalanced, although that shouldn't be a deal breaker.
Looks pretty good to me! What are the odds someone is still reading this AND has an Atlas, so can add 2 cents?
Anyway, any opinions on compressor order? First catching peaks with a limiterlike comp, then glue comp? Or better first gentle compression, before peaks?
Come on people! Techno is not dead! It just smells funny...

Don't know about that pedal but have recently bought the Source Audio Mercury flanger. I like it. It's good quality.
I have just seen this video of the UAFX Max Compressor. I was impressed as it's a demo of house music rather than guitar and is two compressors for. similar price.

Plus preamp. Cool vid, couple of nice little jams in there.

Re: Source Audio - Atlas Compressor
I was going to say no, but I saw it has sidechain EQ on the detector circuit, which is a must for master buss compression.
So in that respect it might be ok, the fact all that stuff requires a software editor makes it a no thanks from me.
You would be better off, for live use, with an FMR compressor and just order a inline hipass from etsy and plug it into the sidechain circuit.

Thanks for your input, chaps!
That UA pedal looks nice as well and that pre sounds dope. The editor looks simpler to operate/less spec'ed, depends on how you look at it.
Haven't found any videos demoing the Atlas this way yet.
Of course the FMR comp and limiter had been on my mind for ages, but somewhere in time they were hard to get and forgot about them (supply seems ok now). The Atlas came up while looking more for a pedal board comp for guitar and bass, and it seems like a device that can also do the master buss thing.
Regarding editor: Ideally it should be some fine tuning during soundcheck with the editor, have some key parameters assigned to the knobs, and probably not change anything during the set, too busy with other stuff. Unless things go way off.
Some thinking to do...
