Windows 10 Updates _ October / November 2019

Post by Críoch »

Anyone been having troubles with audio after recent updates?

Ableton coming through the main outs of soundcard - fine.
Chrome coming through outputs 3&4 of soundcard no matter what settings I change.
Windows Media Player cant play .wavs - lol

Nothing too major.. but had to delete devices & reinstall drivers a few times. Ballache nonetheless.

Achy balls alright.

Are you able to set your motu as a "default communication device" in the settings, in the volume icon on the task bar?

Yeah, I have been having some oddness.
For me it might be just the fact that MOTU are behind the ball (as usual) with their updates.

But I've been doing some testing for the Sonarworks guys as they are looking to improve the systemwide plugin and the asio link, and I think the new updates to Windows seem to have complicated things.

Had some trouble with the new converters I got delivered integrating in the mastering room too, some of my hassles may have been related to this.

There hasn't been a Motu update for my ultralite MK3 in years now. Hard to believe it's not required. Still, all is working ok regardless.

Windows actually hasn't updated in months now, says it's missing some sort of file. not sure if that's good or bad.

I'd love to pull the internet cable out the music computer.

Not sure if that's entirely convenient.. but I'm strongly considering it after this recent behaviour.

The software on the mk3 is 2015 but the firmware is older, crazy really. I've noticed some weird issues with mine since the update. It uses resources in an odd way. Going to phone MOTU on Monday and see if they are going to update for the new windows shit.

On s side note, updated a small netbook, running W10 with new stuff / updates today & whatever it did, it fucking nuked it. The equivalent of the BSOD lol, with multiple choice screens that do nowt.

Fun times ahead.

Yeah, I've found it v.good

I was considering it before. . But I'm gonna look into disabling updates on main music comp if I can.

After what's happened with the netbook.. I'd rather take my chances. If I have to literally pull out the Ethernet cable, so be it.

BSOD shite ain't worth it.
