Remembering Mark Bell (LFO) _ 5 Year Anniversary
Remembering Mark Bell (LFO) _ 5 Year Anniversary
Sunil Sharpe headed the wave of acknowledgment of Mark's passing..
Cool article on 909 Originals. They speak to lot of folk, including Gez Varley.

Some very nice words from those that admired his music.
This is one of my LFO tracks..
Tied Up.

Fair play to Sunil. It was a very nice thing to do, a great idea.
Lfo were great. I've got all of the albums. I think it was very clear to see mark had a great talent and it really shows when he carried on with the LFO name after the split and his other aliases. Sheath was a fantastic album.
Butter slit was a highlight for me.

LFO is one of the most formative musical acts of my personal history, I got to see them live here in Finland in 1993 (the party headliner was the Prodigy, but I went because of LFO). I habitually go back to Frequencies every now and then, although Advance and Sheath are great, too. Bell's own label Syncopate could be of interest to some, the third release is by Bell himself; the Speed Jack material on R&S is also the dog's bollocks - and the Björk productions are also interesting. It would've been great to hear how Bell would've progressed.

next month it will be 25 years ago the Tied Up Acid Mix was released.
when I first heard this on a Warp Promo cassette, it blew my mind, and it still does every time I hear that track (quite frequently)!
the last two minutes are mental.

Apparently a Peel session from 1990 is about to be released:

Great post, nice read through that article to revisit some of this music. I'd forgotten how bloody good Mentok 1 was.
Always loved the almost mechanical rhythms that a lot of LFO tracks had, they really appealed and I played them to death. Always on that nice chunky warp vinyl.
