'Musical' sound mangling/shaping plugins
'Musical' sound mangling/shaping plugins
I've been looking for some more tools to really shape my sounds and i've found that a lot of the more out-there sound-design plugins seem to tend towards very glitchy or distorted sounds so i'm making this thread for more out there sound-shaping plugins that fit in well with smooth / hamonically pleasing / 'musical' material. I'm familiar with the usual suspects like Soundtoys and stuff that's frequently mentioned here on Subsekt, so more out-there stuff is appreciated, maybe some of you know some nice stuff that's not so well known.
I'll start with two nice and cheap ones:
https://kilohearts.com/products/formant_filter - khs formant filter is the smoothest formant filter i've heard so far, with the right formants you can crank it quite a bit before you get really nasty resonances.
http://minimalsystem.com/Store/index.ph ... duct_id=54 - Although technically 'just' a reverb, it's more like Eventide Blackhole in that it can create huge soundscapes, yet it sounds very analog and musical.
By the way, i've been liking Live's Resonator effect - are there any nice plugins that do something similiar?

Have you got Reaktor? Molekular can give me some good (subjective) results sometimes....

If you like Live's Resonator, you'll love Corpus as well.

Rhythmic and generally experimental impulse responses can be great.

And though technically a 'bit crusher' Permu8 is still awesome for mangling sounds.

Bit expensive but worth it imo and can be used for much more then just ambient drones

in ableton I would recommend the grain delay, I use the first two presets all the time. corpus is great as well, you can sidechain a midi clip to it for instance and get some weird shit going on

Tantra maybe?

No, although I might have to hop on the Reaktor train at some pointKromasome wrote:Have you got Reaktor? Molekular can give me some good (subjective) results sometimes....
Yeah, i've played around with it, although it's much harder to tune right than Resonator.Dolorum wrote:If you like Live's Resonator, you'll love Corpus as well.
I've tried Permut8, it seems like the kinda plugin I was talking about in the OP though, were you almost immideatly get crazy distorted glitchy sounds.msl wrote:And though technically a 'bit crusher' Permu8 is still awesome for mangling sounds,
That looks interesting, cheers.arkos wrote: Second that some never before heard sounds to be had, also further on resonators;

Yeah, I use grain delay quite a bit altough I don't crazy with it. Like I said, i'm trying to keep some kind of harmonically pleasing character in the sound.Mslwte wrote:in ableton I would recommend the grain delay, I use the first two presets all the time. corpus is great as well, you can sidechain a midi clip to it for instance and get some weird shit going on
