Re: What direction are you moving in
Oh yeah, I am also using Kickstart 2 / LFOTool a LOT recently to really tight up my sound. Amazing what difference getting all the tails pulled in and controlled makes to a mix.

Re: What direction are you moving in
I don't really have a direction. I tend to make stuff that I like, as cliche as that sounds. I am always looking to fine tune my skills, and hunt for the elusive perfect moments. I tend to nail, or improve a certain aspect of production every so often then run with that for a while. Recently it has ...

Re: KLanghelm MJUC Tip
Good info. I have experimented with MJUC a fair bit, and A/B'd with Waves CLA-2A as well. When A/Bing, the difference is very slight between the two; I find MJUC has a more coherent, together sound however, which seems to appreciate a very delicate touch. CLA by comparison seems quite upfront and sl...

Re: Tune Drums with scales?
Thread resurrection, as I have some questions; Say you are making a track from scratch, and starting with the kick and sub-bass, using say Kick2 and Operator. 1. Kick2, you have the kick settling on G0. 2. Would you also have the sub-bass root note at G0, or do you prefer to use something different?...

Re: ASK US ANYTHING [NO SUBJECT IS STUPID / ALL QUESTIONS WELCOMED]
Any tips on making the huge wide sub bass element that is present in modern techno? I've had some success with keeping the kick well away from it and turning it up, but can't seem to get it as huge and wide as stuff I hear in recent mixes. There is no such thing as huge wide sub bass. Sub bass is b...

Re: The worst bit of kit you ever bought?
An emu 1212m soundcard with proteus sampler software. Couldn't figure it out! 🤣 It was actually decent spec but was outdated when I bought it or maybe about 4 hrs later! Once I got a new laptop, it got thrown in 'that' box... Ha, I had one of them for a few years. Was actually excellent; great mic ...
Car Audio
I am in the market for a new system for my car, and thought I might ask on here if anyone has any recommendations or insight to share. I realise that car audio isn't exactly the focus of the forum, but I spend a lot of time hammering techno in my car so... Everywhere I look seems to be the same JBL,...

Re: The worst bit of kit you ever bought?
Sony Vaio Laptop around 2003. Was shit. I had to point a fan at the back to stop it overheating, then the keys started breaking so I had to use a USB numberpad. Was 900 quid when I bought it too. Shudder. All laptops are rubbish, I reckon. Built a desktop PC and forever enjoy the savage power. Other...

Re: The worst bit of kit you ever bought?
Cheers for explaining. Make sense. Worst bit of kit I bought; Bang and Olufsen earphones. They broke in half an hour, when played full volume through a minidisc player. The speakers topped out and any bass made them resonate hideously. Exchanged them and they did it again. Got my money back. Pathetic.

Re: The worst bit of kit you ever bought?
Yes, I am resurrecting a very old thread... I have been meaning to ask... What is the deal with Behringer nowadays? I stopped making music for years, and lost touch with the whole scene around 2010. Around that time, Behringer was considered absolute junk with dodgy business practices, low quality g...

Re: Studio Build dilemma
Lads, the recommendations in this thread have been excellent;
Sonarworks has really helped, as has the wall bounce calculator I found via the Speaker Placement 101 link. Edging slowly towards a way better room for banging out angular, stark sledgehammers of techno.

Re: Nearfield Monitors
Is your room/environment good enough to take the added energy and frequency extension? If you are in a 2.5x2.5x2.5 square room, lots of low frequencies could give you even more of a problem.. Good point. My room is 2.7m x 2.9m x 3.0m I am going to delve into the murky world of room treatment, which...

Re: Sylenth _ Anybody still using it in 2020?
Yeah I have it but never really shift from Serum anymore. Occasionally venture back to Zebra2, but I just find Serum so fast and powerful.
Sylenth has that late 2000s slightly rubbery sound that lacks real sharpness, I reckon... Has had it's day.

Re: Nearfield Monitors
Thought I would ask in here instead of starting a new thread; I have a pair of Yamaha HS7 monitors and wanted to add a sub to the setup. Currently the matching Yamaha HS8S sub is not in stock anywhere in Australia and is not likely to be for some time so I am looking for alternatives. Any suggestion...
